Michael Gelfand is the owner and President/CEO of Terra Vista Management, Inc. (TVM). TVM and its predecessor have operated recreation vehicle, mobile home, apartment, marina, commercial, food and beverage, and golf properties in nine states. TVM specializes in investment properties with resort amenities adjacent to the ocean, bays, rivers, and tidelands. For the past 40 years, Michael has overseen property operations, acquisitions, entitlements, development, financing, construction, and corporate governance-related projects. TVM currently employs over 400 people.
Michael is a former director and member of the Executive Committee of ARVC, the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, served two terms as an elected commissioner of the California Travel and Tourism Commission, including over six years as an active member of the Marketing Committee, which determines the objectives and focus of the State of California’s annual tourism promotion budget. Michael has served on numerous nonprofit boards including the Old Globe Theater in San Diego, The San Diego Natural History Museum, served as President of Kehillath Israel Synagogue in Pacific Palisades, California, and numerous other organizations. He is active in California politics and in April of 2020 was appointed by California Governor Gavin Newson to the Board of Directors of the 22nd DAA, which operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Michael is married and has three adult children and one grandson. He was born into subsidized housing, went to public school, has enhanced compassion for people of all kinds, and is committed to a sustainable environment and progressive human values.
